As the mobile markets of the Caribbean and Central America are deregulated, new licences were awarded and new networks were launched. Many markets are now in the process of breaking open their monopolies and opening up to competition with numerous merger and acquisitions process. Operators are focusing on revenue and this is not a new goal for them, the challenge for the whole market is how to deliver advanced mobile services in a more prepared market in terms of competition and users demand.
We are pleased to announce the development of the most important Caribbean and Central American operators and regulator meeting, The Caricam Mobile Summit now part of the MobileCom Series. In its ninth edition we will continue to fulfil the information needs to meet the most important challenges and seize the opportunities offered by the boost in service deployment.
Over 200 participants from 100 different companies, including 75 representatives from 30 different mobile operators had the opportunity to participate at the prior editions of Caricam Mobile Summit.
IBC created this open forum to increase understanding of the commercial and technical challenges and opportunities to run successful mobile businesses in the Caribbean. By all measures it was an outstanding success. The event gave attendees the opportunity to share experiences and learn from each other as well as a chance to meet vendors and see new applications.
The networking provided by this event is always very useful and informative. The participants gained a keen sense of the dynamics of a newly competitive Caribbean mobile marketplace through rich content presentations, numerous questions and answers sessions, and more than a few social events.
